Plain-language version: I only collect what I need to answer you and do the work, I never sell it, and you can ask me to delete it any time.
Who I am
I'm Ben Miller, a computer repair and networking technician (Ben Miller PC Repair & Networking) serving Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, Florida. This page covers this website, ben-miller.tech, and my work for you. Questions: call or text (786) 459-9257 or email benjajm@me.com.
What I collect, and why
- Messages you send me. The contact form saves your name, phone, email and message, and I'm emailed a copy, so I can reply.
- Bookings. Your name, phone, email, address, the problem and the time you pick, so I know where to go and what to bring.
- Recommendations. If you leave one, I keep what you write and your name. I only show it on this site if you say it's okay.
- Visits to the site. A simple count of which pages are viewed, with your IP address and rough location (city level), browser type and the page that sent you. IP addresses are deleted after 30 days. I use this only to see what's useful and to spot spam and attacks.
- Client records. If you hire me, I keep your contact details, the device and work done, notes, invoices and photos of the job, so I can help you again and keep my business records.
- Recorded conversations. I only record a call or visit if you say yes first, and I use the recording only for that job.
Cookies
This site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, and it doesn't use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or similar tools. Your cookie choice on the banner is remembered in your own browser, nothing else. If you pay online, Square's secure checkout page is run by Square and uses its own cookies; see Square's privacy notice.
A small cookie called bm_lang remembers whether you picked English or Spanish, so every page shows in your language. It holds nothing else.
Other companies that touch your information
- Square handles card payments. I never see or store your card number.
- Formspree delivers the contact form message to my email.
- Google Fonts supplies this site's typefaces, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
- Apple (iCloud Mail) carries the emails I send you, such as confirmations and invoices.
- The maps and shop pages may link you out to Google Maps, Apple Maps or Amazon. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
I don't sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising.
How long I keep it
Website visit IP addresses: 30 days. Messages, bookings and client records: as long as I need them to help you and to keep my business and tax records, then I delete them. Recordings: as long as the job needs them.
Your choices
You can ask me to show you what I have about you, correct it, or delete it. Call, text or email me and I'll take care of it. You can also decline the cookie banner, and the site works the same.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, the admin area needs a password plus a security key, authenticator code or passkey, and records are stored on my own equipment. No system is perfect, but I take care with your information.
Children
This site is for adults and isn't aimed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If I change how I handle information, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
