How to make your mouse pointer bigger, smaller or inverted in Windows

If you keep losing the little white arrow on your screen, you're not alone. On a big monitor or a busy background it can be hard to spot. The good news: Windows lets you make the pointer bigger, change its color, or make it "inverted" so it always stands out. It takes about a minute.

Windows 11

  1. Click Start, then Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Choose Accessibility on the left.
  3. Click Mouse pointer and touch.
  4. Under Mouse pointer style, pick one:
  • White: the regular pointer.
  • Black: a black pointer, easier to see on light pages.
  • Inverted: changes color to the opposite of whatever it's over, so it shows up on any background.
  • Custom: pick your own color, like bright yellow or green.
  1. Drag the Size slider to the right to make the pointer bigger, or to the left to make it smaller. The change happens right away, so you can try it as you go.

Windows 10

  1. Click Start, then Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Choose Ease of Access.
  3. Click Mouse pointer on the left.
  4. Drag the Change pointer size slider to make it bigger or smaller.
  5. Under Change pointer color, pick white (regular), black, inverted, or a custom color.

Going back to normal

Changed your mind? Go back to the same page, pick White and drag the size slider all the way to the left. That's the way Windows comes out of the box.

Bonus: find your pointer with one key

Windows can show you where the pointer is when you press the Ctrl key:

  1. Click Start, type mouse settings and open it.
  2. Click Additional mouse settings (on Windows 11 it's under Related settings).
  3. Open the Pointer Options tab.
  4. Tick Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key, then click OK.

Now whenever you lose it, tap Ctrl and a circle shows you where it is.
